Elegant style icon wardrobe essentials: Audrey Hepburn in headscarves

 

As a timeless style icon, Audrey Hepburn created countless classic looks, on screen and off, from only a few basic items: black dresses, ballet flats, capri pants, and a few accessories, such as simple earrings, scarves, and sunglasses.

Among these accessories, the headscarf was her favorite. She wore it in films such as Love in the Afternoon (1957), Funny Face (1957), Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), and Charade (1963). She also wore it in her own life: walking down the street, riding a bicycle, arriving at the airport, or flying.  On 18 January 1969, when she married Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti, Audrey Hepburn wore a pink headscarf tied under her chin.
