Evelyn Tripp (1927-1995) was a leading fashion model of the 1950s and 1960s.
Biography
Evelyn Tripp was born in a small farm in Flat River, Missouri, in 1927, the daughter of a lead miner.
She initially worked as a clerical worker, and at age 20, she was discovered by an assistant to Louise Dahl-Wolfe, the Harper's Bazaar photographer, while shopping on New York's Fifth Avenue doing her job.

Since then she became a professional model and began to appear on magazine covers. Her first magazine cover photo was on Jan. 1, 1949, issue of Vogue. And for the next two decades, Evelyn Tripp was a leading fashion model of the 1950's and 1960's, and appeared in more than 40 magazine covers, until she retired in 1968.

Over her modeling career, she was immortalized by the most prominent photographers, such as, Horst P. Horst, Richard Avedon, Erwin Blumenfeld, Karen Radkai and Lillian Bassman. She was William Klein's favorite model who used a photo he took of her as cover for his book William Klein: In and Out of Fashion (Random House, 1994).

Evelyn Tripp died of colon cancer at her home in Remsenburg, Long Island, New York, aged 67.
